DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Southeast... Multiple seasonal fires were observed across Georgia, Alabama and the Florida panhandle. Predominantly light-density smoke plumes were seen dispersing towards the west-northwest. A wildfire is currently burning in southeast Collier county in Florida releasing moderate-to-heavy density smoke which is being transported towards the southwest. Central America... Areas of stagnant light-density smoke are seen covering southwest Mexico, Guatemala and the Bay of Campeche. The smoke originates from widespread seasonal fires occurring across the region. WS THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
