DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: MEXICO/CENTRAL AMERICA... A large region of thin density smoke attributed to seasonal burning occurring in southern Mexico was visible along the far southern/coastal area of southern Mexico and offshore over the Pacific. Another patch of thin density smoke was visible over the Yucatan Peninsula from nearby seasonal fires. A third area of thin to moderate density smoke could be seen over Honduras from concentrated seasonal fires there. North Dakota/Minnesota/South Central Canada... Seasonal fire activity across northern and northeastern North Dakota, northwestern Minnesota, and south central Canada from south central Alberta to southern Manitoba was responsible for numerous mainly thin density smoke plumes which moved off primarily to the east. JS THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
