DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 2000Z May 8, 2018
SMOKE: ArkLaTex... A fairly intense fire was observed emitting moderate to heavily dense smoke after sunrise this morning. The smoke from this fire was moving off toward the east-southeast. Just to the west of this fire, an area of remnant smoke was seen moving westward across eastern Texas and near-shore portions of the Gulf of Mexico. A few other smaller fires are noted throughout the rest of the ArkLaTex, with plumes moving north-northeast. Southeast CONUS... From North Carolina into south Florida, fires were observed emitting smoke this morning. Much of the smoke was thin and moving south or southeast, but one fire that burned throughout the night in central Florida east of Tampa Bay was producing smoke of moderate density. The smoke was moving off toward the west-southwest. Hosley THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
