DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Southeast... The ongoing wildfire in the Florida Everglades continued to emit moderate to dense smoke this morning. The smoke from this fire was moving off toward the southwest. Other small smoke plumes from north Florida into the Carolinas were seen moving off toward the northeast. Texas Panhandle... The ongoing fire in the North Texas Panhandle was observed continuing to emit thin to very thin smoke this morning. The smoke was moving off toward the northwest. US Virgin Islands/Puerto Rico... A fire at the southern tip of Tortola in the British Virgin Islands was observed emitting thin smoke that was making its way across the northern US Virgin Islands (St. Thomas and northern St. John) and the northern shore of Puerto Rico. This smoke was seen moving off toward the west. -Hosley THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
