DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE
IMAGERY THROUGH 0002Z, May 25, 2018.

SMOKE:
New Mexico/Southern Colorado/TX and OK Panhandles...
A couple of wildfire complexes in west central New Mexico were continuing
to emit locally moderate density smoke which was confined relatively close
to the actual fires during the morning. A large area of thin density
smoke though extended from the fires to the east-northeast over much
of northern New Mexico, the Oklahoma and Texas Panhandles, and south
central Colorado, with a small patch of moderate density remnant smoke
moving across the Texas Panhandle. This smoke plume and remnant smoke
will likely continue to move off toward the east.

Northeastern US/Mid-Atlantic/Southern Canada...
Wildfires scattered across southern Canada from British Columbia into
Manitoba were observed producing smoke of varying density. Many of
these fires, along with other fires observed over previous days, have
produced an expansive area of varying density remnant smoke. The area
covers southern Canada from Eastern British Columbia through Ontario and
southeast into southern New England and the Mid-Atlantic out into the
open Atlantic. This smoke will likely continue to spread toward the east.

Mexico/Pacific Ocean...
Light to moderate density smoke has accumulated south of Mexico. The
widespread activity throughout southern and central Mexico is the
source of this smoke. This smoke is moving offshore and off toward the
west. There are also light to medium density smoke plumes in the Mexican
states Chihuahua and Sonora that are moving northeast into southwest
New Mexico and western Texas.

OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME
DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE
FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST
ARE ALSO DESCRIBED. USERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO VIEW A GRAPHIC DEPICTION OF
THESE AND OTHER PLUMES WHICH ARE LESS EXTENSIVE AND STILL ATTACHED TO
THE SOURCE FIRE IN VARIOUS GRAPHIC FORMATS ON OUR WEB SITE:
