DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE
IMAGERY THROUGH 0200Z, May 30, 2018.
SMOKE: Central Canada... Smoke plumes spread across central-northern Alberta and Saskatchewan, and northern Manitoba and Ontario as a result of scattered wildfires in the area. The smoke is being transported to the east following the low-level atmospheric flow. New Mexico... A wildfire continues to burn in Catron county producing moderate-to-heavy smoke near the source. The plume is spreading for approximately 200 miles towards the east extending into Lincoln county. Mexico/Central America... Widespread fire activity can be found across much of northwest, central and southeast Mexico, and central-northern Guatemala. Stagnant smoke is seen covering the affected areas, and extending over the Bay of Campeche. WS THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
