SMOKE:
New Mexico/Colorado/Central Plains/Mississippi Valley
The Buzzard Wildfire located in Catron County in southwest New Mexico
has produced dense to very dense smoke moving east across central New
Mexico and into the Texas Panhandle.
A wildfire in western Colfax county in Northeast New Mexico has produced
moderately dense to dense smoke spreading east into northeast New Mexico,
southeast Colorado and western/central Kansas and southern Nebraska.
A wildfire in northern La Plata county in southwest Colorado has emitted
dense smoke across southern Colorado.
Residual smoke from the wildfire burning in southwest New Mexico can be
seen spreading across the Central Plains/Mississippi Valley and extends
as far north as southern Minnesota and south to parts of eastern Texas
and northern Louisiana. The residual smoke is beginning to near western
sections of Wisconsin, Illinois, Tennessee and Mississippi.

THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS
OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME
DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE
FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST
ARE ALSO DESCRIBED. USERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO VIEW A GRAPHIC DEPICTION OF
THESE AND OTHER PLUMES WHICH ARE LESS EXTENSIVE AND STILL ATTACHED TO
THE SOURCE FIRE IN VARIOUS GRAPHIC FORMATS ON OUR WEB SITE:
