SMOKE:
New Mexico/Colorado
The Buzzard Wildfire located in Catron County in southwest New Mexico
continues to burn producing moderate-to-heavy density smoke, which is
being transported to the northeast. Also, the Ute Park fire in Colfax
county in Northeast New Mexico shows moderate-to-heavy density smoke near
the source, and light-density smoke extending eastward for approximately
400 miles reaching northeast Oklahoma. In southwest Colorado, the
Horse Park wildfire is burning across northern La Plata county with the
moderate-density smoke dispersing towards the north-northeast.

Fires in northern Sierra Madre Occidental are producing light-to-moderate
density smoke plumes of variable directions. A large remnant smoke
plume from previous day fires can be seen spreading across southern Gulf
of California.

THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS
OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME
DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE
FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST
ARE ALSO DESCRIBED. USERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO VIEW A GRAPHIC DEPICTION OF
THESE AND OTHER PLUMES WHICH ARE LESS EXTENSIVE AND STILL ATTACHED TO
THE SOURCE FIRE IN VARIOUS GRAPHIC FORMATS ON OUR WEB SITE:
