DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE

A large area of smoke was seen covering most of Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, and eastern Montana and extending eastward across the Plains from North Dakota and western Minnesota southward to Oklahoma. The 416 Fire in southwest Colorado produced a heavy smoke plume this afternoon moving towards the northeast for more than 150 miles and reaching Park county. Wildfires in central (Trail Mountain Fire) and southwest (West Valley Fire) Utah were also seen emitting moderate-density smoke plumes moving towards the northeast. South Central and Southeastern Canada... Wildfires over eastern Manitoba, western and central Ontario continue to emit moderate-density smoke with a low level transport towards the west and higher level transport towards the east. DUST: Southern California... Blowing dust could be seen off western Salton Sea and along the Imperial Valley/Colorado river mouth moving towards the east. WS THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
