DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE

The Pawnee Fire located near west-central California continues to burn with moderate density smoke moving towards the southwest and over San Francisco. A large plume composed of light density smoke from the fire is seen spreading along the San Joaquin and Sacramento valleys, and into northwest Nevada. Nevada/Utah/Colorado... The Hogan fire located in northeastern Nevada is emitting light-to-density smoke moving northeast into Utah. The Dollar Ridge Fire in northeast Utah is producing moderate-density smoke spreading to the east into northwest Colorado. The Spring Creek fire in central-south Colorado is also seen emitting moderate-density smoke plume moving towards the east-northeast approaching the Kansas state border. Great Plains... A large area of remnant light density smoke covers much of the Great Plains, stretching from southern North Dakota to northern Oklahoma. The majority of the smoke originates from the wildfires in Colorado. The bulk of the smoke is moving towards the northeast following the 500mb flow. WS THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
