Areas of light density remnant smoke likely originating from Russia and wildfires in eastern Canada continue to be observed over much of northern Canada this morning, over northeastern Manitoba, northern Ontario, and Labrador. This smoke is circulating around a large low pressure center over Hudson Bay, whose clouds also likely obscure the full extent of the smoke. A wildfire in northern Manitoba is producing a plume of moderate-heavy density smoke moving eastward. A wildfire in western Quebec is producing a moderate-density smoke plume moving generally northward. Eastern United States... Areas of remnant smoke related to the Canadian smoke are located over much of the east coast, extending from Massachusetts to Georgia, westward to Illinois and Texas. DUST: Caribbean/Gulf of Mexico... An area of Saharan dust is observed moving generally westward across the tropical Atlantic, extending as far west as the Bay of Campeche and as far north as the Florida Keys. Clark THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. USERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO VIEW A GRAPHIC DEPICTION OF THESE AND OTHER PLUMES WHICH ARE LESS EXTENSIVE AND STILL ATTACHED TO THE SOURCE FIRE IN VARIOUS GRAPHIC FORMATS ON OUR WEB SITE: JPEG: http://www.ospo.noaa.gov/data/land/fire/currenthms.jpg GIS: ftp://satpsanone.nesdis.noaa.gov/FIRE/HMS/GIS/ KML: http://www.ospo.noaa.gov/data/land/fire/fire.kml (fire) http://www.ospo.noaa.gov/data/land/fire/smoke.kml (smoke) ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS REGARDING THIS PRODUCT SHOULD BE SENT TO SSDFireTeam@noaa.gov
