DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

Wildfire activity is observed from the Yukon into British Columbia, with an additional fire in northeastern Ontario, producing heavy density plumes near the sources along with light-density smoke aloft stretching across most of southern Canada. The plumes are seen drifting predominantly towards the east. Western US... Numerous large wildfires continue to burn in northern California, southwest Oregon, western and northeast Nevada, central Washington, central-southern Idaho, southwest Wyoming, and western Colorado. High-density smoke associated with the California fires is moving immediately north over Oregon, then dispersing east and east-southeastward, with the fires in other states adding to the plume with mostly medium-density smoke, reaching as far as western Kansas and the Texas Panhandle. An additional area of remnant smoke is seen over southeastern Texas and western Louisiana moving generally southward. MC THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
