SMOKE:
Southern Half of Canada / Northern Half of the US...
Remnant smoke continues to blanket much of the northern U.S. and
southern Canadian provinces as a result of significant wildfire activity
throughout the Pacific Northwest and British Columbia. Light density
smoke stretches east from the source covering Alberta, Saskatchewan,
Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland,
and is visible approximately half way to Greenland. Light density smoke
also stretches southeast from the source covering the Intermountain West,
the Central Plains, Great Lakes, Ohio River Valley, the Appalachians and
continues out into the Atlantic. Moderate to heavy density remnant smoke
is confined mainly to the Canadian Provinces, portions of Montana, and
most of New England. Additional heavy smoke plumes are seen originating
from wildfires in northern California, southern Oregon and northeast
Nevada, spreading towards the east-northeast.
Lower Mississippi River Valley...
Prescribed fires were seen emitting light-to-moderate density smoke plumes
across southern Arkansas, northern Louisiana, and western Mississippi
with a general dispersion towards the west.

THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF
SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED
FROM
THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY
OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO
DESCRIBED. USERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO VIEW A GRAPHIC DEPICTION OF THESE AND
OTHER PLUMES WHICH ARE LESS EXTENSIVE AND STILL ATTACHED TO THE SOURCE
FIRE
