Heavy smoke continues to be released from several wildfires burning across western and southeast British Columbia, Washington, Oregon and Idaho, northwest Montana, northern California and northeast Nevada. The plumes are being transported towards the northeast-east, creating a large area of moderately dense smoke that covers much of central-southern Canada and central-northern US extending from the Pacific coast to New England and over the north Atlantic ocean. The South Sugarloaf Fire in northeast Nevada was particularly active this afternoon and early evening producing a long and heavy smoke plume moving towards the northeast and into southeast Idaho, impacting air quality conditions over Twin Falls, Pocatello and Idaho Falls. WS THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
