DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

An exceptionally large amount of smoke was being transported very large distances from ongoing and recent wildfire activity affecting portions of the Western U.S. and Western Canada. Due to cloudiness over most of Canada and North Central U.S., the smoke extent and density information was unknown. There was light to medium dense smoke in the Pacific West corner of the U.S. and British Columbia that moved south-southwest into the Pacific Ocean. Again, due to the clouds, there was a large gap of no visible smoke in between both coasts. Light to medium density smoke was seen offshore covering much of the northern and central Atlantic possibly reaching Europe. South Central and Southeastern U.S... What are believed to be seasonal/agricultural fires were widely scattered across portions of the South Central and Southeastern U.S. resulting in a few individual localized smoke plumes. Rodriguez THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
