DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

Wildfires in central British Columbia, north central Washington, southwest Oregon and northern California continue to produce large plumes resulting in a wide area of remnant high-density smoke covering most of that region. Smoke from western fires is also seen covering the majority of the US states and Canadian provinces along the border from the Pacific coast to the Great Lakes, and extending into Nebraska and Iowa. Smoke is predominantly moving towards the east. Mid-Atlantic... Large areas of medium density smoke could be seen over the mid-Atlantic region as a result of long-range transport from western wildfires during the last few days. Those areas extend across much of the north Atlantic moving towards the east. WS THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
