DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SEND EMAIL RESPONSES TO: SSDFireTeam@noaa.gov. SMOKE: Northern California/Southwest Oregon... Light-density remnant smoke is seen extending along the Sacramento Valley and into southwest Oregon. A few lingering wildfires in southwest Oregon are seen producing moderate-density smoke spreading towards the northeast. Utah... The Pole Creek Fire in northern Utah has a long smoke plume extending northeastward across Wyoming. Heavy-density smoke can be seen near the source and up to the Wyoming state border. Canada... Remnant smoke is seen traveling eastward following the upper level atmospheric flow across northern Hudson Bay, Hudson Strait, Foxe Basin and the Hall Peninsula. WS THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
