DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Plains States to the Northern Rockies....An area of light, with localized moderate, density smoke from fires over Colorado, Wyoming and Idaho, extended from portions of the Plains States to the Northern Rockies. Localized very dense smoke was located closer to fire activity over portions of northern Colorado and southern Wyoming and further west over western Wyoming. DUST: Southwest Atlantic Ocean: An area of Saharan Dust was seen over portions of the Southwest Atlantic Ocean extending west through the eastern and southern Bahamas. Hanna THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
