DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

Light density smoke plumes were observed emanating from fire activity throughout throughout British Columbia and Washington State. Most of the observed smoke was moving off toward the southeast. Cloud cover was present across much of the other parts of the Pacific Northwest, which may have obscured fire and smoke activity in the region. Southeast U.S./Mississippi Valley... Numerous agricultural and prescribed fires emitting mainly light density smoke were observed across the southeast from Georgia and Florida west into Texas. Smoke plumes could be seen moving westward off of a few fires south of Lake Okeechobee in Florida. Elsewhere, smoke was moving clockwise around surface high pressure centered over the Appalachians. Fair-weather cumulus clouds prevented the analysis of more smoke throughout the region. Hosley THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
