California...
A wildfire which started today just south of Travis Air Force Base to
the northeast of the San Francisco-Oakland metro areas resulted in
a moderately dense to locally thick smoke plume which spread to the
south and across Sunnyvale and Santa Cruz and eventually off the coast
of central California. Farther to the north, another wildfire started
toward the northern end of the Sacramento Valley to the northeast of Red
Bluff with an accompanying thin to moderately dense smoke plume visible
spreading to the south nearly reaching Sacramento just prior to sunset.
Middle and Lower Mississippi Valley Region...
A few localized thin density smoke plumes were seen moving off to the
northwest from seasonal/agricultural fires over southeastern Missouri
and eastern Arkansas.

THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF
SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED
FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE.
TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE
ALSO DESCRIBED. USERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO VIEW A GRAPHIC DEPICTION OF THESE
AND OTHER PLUMES WHICH ARE LESS EXTENSIVE AND STILL ATTACHED TO THE SOURCE
FIRE IN VARIOUS GRAPHIC FORMATS ON OUR WEB SITE:
