DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0230Z October 21, 2018.
SMOKE: Western U.S... Similar to yesterday, a combination of seasonal fires and a few wildfires were responsible for numerous sizable patches of smoke of varying density across portions of California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Montana. South Central Canada/North Dakota... Seasonal agricultural type fires were prevalent over southern Saskatchewan and southern Manitoba in south central Canada and approximately the northern half of North Dakota. Many thin density smoke plumes were visible with a number of these fires with some of the plumes merging to form relatively larger areas of smoke. JS THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
