DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: South Central U.S... A combination of residual thin density smoke from yesterday's seasonal burning and new smoke from today's round of burning was visible across a good portion of Oklahoma, Northern Texas, southeastern Kansas, southern Missouri, much of Arkansas, northern Mississippi, along with western Tennessee and western Kentucky. The most concentrated fire activity and smoke was over southeastern Kansas, much of Oklahoma, southern Missouri, and western and northern Arkansas. Some of the smoke plumes in this region were locally moderately dense to thick. JS THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
