DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

Central US... Numerous fires were observed from Iowa into Texas, with the highest density across the Flint Hills in eastern Kansas and northeastern Oklahoma. The fires that were visible through the cloud coverage were emitting light-density smoke plumes that moved east-northeast. Southeast US... Numerous fires were observed from Mississippi to Georgia emitting light-density smoke plumes that moved towards the southeast. There were they usual fires near Lake Okeechobee that were emitting light-density plumes towards the northeast. Rodriguez THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
