DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1800Z April 4, 2019
SMOKE: Southeastern U.S/Mid-Atlantic... Seasonal fire activity was resulting in numerous visible plumes of primarily light-density smoke in Georgia, the Carolinas, Virginia, and West Virginia, with a few scattered plumes containing medium-density smoke. Plume motion was primarily to the northeast and north across the region. Mexico/Gulf of Mexico... Fires in central Mexico were producing several plumes of light-density smoke. In addition, remnant smoke from past days' fires and gas flaring in the Bay of Campeche was visible over much of the western Gulf of Mexico. MC THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
