DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1801Z April 12, 2019
SMOKE: Florida... A significant amount of seasonal burning was observed across Florida along with a few smoke plumes of thin density around Lake Okeechobee. Central plains... A large number of seasonal/agricultural fires were detected across southeastern Oklahoma, northeastern Kansas, southern Missouri, and northern Arkansas with thin density smoke plumes moving east-southeast. Mexico/Western Gulf of Mexico... A relatively larger area of thin density smoke was visible over a portion of the Bay of Campeche and the western Gulf of Mexico extending north towards the coast of southeastern Texas and southern Louisiana. A large number of fires were seen overnight and early this morning towards the center of the Mexican state of Chihuahua. Due to cloud coverage, smoke plumes were not visible. DUST: West Texas... Blowing dusts were seen in Texas border with the Mexican state Chihuahua extending east toward the north of Big Bend region. Rodriguez THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
