DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Southeast US... Multiple light to moderate smoke plumes were seen across the states of Florida, Georgia and Alabama during the afternoon hours. Smoke plumes were dispersing towards the west in Florida, northwest in Georgia, and north-northwest in Alabama. Central America/Gulf of Mexico ... Fire activity remains very high along central-southern Mexico, Guatemala, Belize and Honduras. Stagnant light density smoke covers the entire region extending westward over the Pacific ocean waters, and also eastward where it blankets the central-western Gulf of Mexico and the Gulf of Honduras. Moderate-density smoke can also be found across central-southern Mexico where the concentration of fires is particularly high including a number of heavier smoke emitters. WS THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
