DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Gulf of Mexico: Residual smoke from fires burning in Mexico and Central America are producing light smoke moving across the Yucatan and the Bay of Campeche/Western Gulf of Mexico. Northern Mexico... Smoke plumes moving northeast in the southern part of Chihuahua and northern Durango. North/Central U.S.... Numerous fires, mostly in South Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa, and Minnesota, were seen producing light density smoke plumes moving in all directions. Southeast/Mid-Atlantic U.S.... Numerous fires starting from Alabama to as far north as Maryland were producing light to moderate smoke plumes moving northeast. California... A few fires were seen between Lassen National Forest and Plumas National Forest in northern California creating a moderate smoke plume moving southeast. Rodriguez THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
