DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Southeast US Several Prescribed burns have been reported in Florida around Lake Okeechobee. Light density smoke has been observed with satellite imagery around this region. South Central Mexico... Widespread fire activity has been observed over portions of Central and Southern Mexico. The light density smoke persists over a large area including the Yucatan Peninsula, portions of central and southern Mexico, as well as the central and southern Gulf of Mexico extending out eastward as well over portions of the lower Florida Keys. Light density smoke also is affecting portions of the Western Caribbean close by the Yucatan Peninsula. Moderate density smoke persists over mainly Central and Southern Mexico as well as the Southern Gulf of Mexico. Heavy density smoke is affecting central and southern Mexico especially the southern shores of Mexico and the Pacific Ocean waters for approximately a couple hundred miles. Sambucci THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
