DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Southern Texas/Mexico/Central America/Gulf of Mexico/Pacific south of Mexico/Central America...The ongoing major amount of seasonal burning continues across portions of Mexico and Central America which resulted in a very large area of smoke which covered much of central and southern Mexico, Central America, the Bay of Campeche, the Gulf of Mexico, and the Pacific south of Mexico and Central America. The thinner density smoke also appeared to spread farther to the northwest and inland over southern Texas. Moderately dense to thicker smoke was visible in patches over southern and eastern Mexico and the northern part of Central America as well as off the southern coast of Mexico. Oregon... Several fires in the southwest, central, and east central portions of Oregon emitted thin to locally moderately dense smoke plumes which fanned out and spread generally to the east and southeast during the afternoon. JS THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
