SMOKE: Mexico/Gulf of Mexico... Fire activity remains high across central-southern Mexico. A large area of moderate-to-heavy density smoke covers most of central-southern Mexico. The plume extends towards the west over the Pacific Ocean off southern Mexico and to the north-northeast covering the southern half of Gulf of Mexico and reaching Cuba. Heavy smoke concentration dominates the central Mexican states of Oaxaca, Guerrero, the western Gulf of Mexico and the Gulf of Honduras. Central-Northern Great Plains/Minnesota... Numerous fires could be seen this afternoon across Minnesota, eastern North and South Dakota, and Nebraska. A few moderate-density smoke plumes were observed in Minnesota moving towards the northwest, while a large plume composed of light density smoke from scattered fire activity covers much of the central and northern Great Plains. Florida Panhandle A few plumes of moderate density were seen over the Florida panhandle this afternoon. The plumes were dispersing towards the south-southwest and over the Gulf of Mexico.
