DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Mexico/Gulf of Mexico... Fire activity remains relatively high across central-southern Mexico. A large area of light-to-moderate density smoke covers most of central-southern Mexico. The plume extends towards the west over the Pacific Ocean off southern Mexico and to the north-northeast covering the southern half of Gulf of Mexico. Heavier smoke concentration dominates some of the south-central Mexican states. Southeastern U.S... Numerous fires could be seen this afternoon across the Florida panhandle, Georgia and the Carolinas. A few light-density smoke plumes were observed in North Carolina moving towards the east, while a larger plume composed of light density smoke extended east off of the Atlantic coast. JL THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
