DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Gulf of Mexico/Mexico/Central America/Pacific off the coast of Mexico and Central America... Multiple large areas of varying density smoke from ongoing fire activity across Mexico and Central America was visible today across much of that region with the smoke also spreading northward over the Bay of Campeche and the western Gulf of Mexico. The smoke over this region is light in density. The smoke also extended to the south and off the southern coast of Mexico and Central America with light to moderate density areas. Western Canada... Several large wildfires continue to burn across central and northern Alberta resulting in moderately to thick dense smoke plumes. The smoke from the wildfires has moved north than turning northeast as it spreads across a large section of northern Alberta and into the Northwest Territories. J Kibler THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
