DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Central-Southern Canada/Northern U.S... Large complex fires continue to burn in northern/central Alberta producing heavy density smoke near the sources. An area of light-to-moderate density smoke extends towards the southeast across southern Saskatchewan and Manitoba, and into the North Dakota and Minnesota. Arizona... Three large fires could be seen emitting heavy-density smoke along central Arizona this afternoon. The smoke was being dispersed towards the northeast-east. Mexico/Western Gulf of Mexico... Numerous fires were observed along western Mexico and the Yucatan Peninsula. Moderate density smoke covered western Mexico, stretching over the Gulf of California and Pacific ocean waters for approximately 500 miles off shore. Residual light-density smoke was also seen over the western Gulf of Mexico. WS THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
