DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Alaska and Central Canada....A large area of moderate to heavy density smoke, from the numerous ongoing fires in Alaska, northern British Columbia and northern Alberta, extended from northern Quebec west through central Canada to Alaska. Within this large axis of smoke, the highest density smoke extended from northern Saskatchewan west into Alaska. Southern Plains....An area of light smoke, from fire activity over the Southern Plains the past few days, extended over portions of central Oklahoma. DUST: Gulf of Mexico....An area of Saharan Dust was seen over the eastern Gulf of Mexico extending into portions of the Florida Panhandle. Hanna THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
