DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1630z July 20, 2019
SMOKE: Alaska/Canada... Thick density smoke from the wildfires in Alaska was observed through holes in the cloud cover moving East into Canada. Western Canada... Smoke of varying density from light to heavy was observed around Northern Alberta. This smoke is most likely a combination from the fires in Alberta and residual smoke from the Alaskan fires. Southwestern U.S.... Fires in Arizona and New Mexico were producing smoke that was traveling Northeast. Northeastern U.S.... Residual smoke from the fires out West in both Canada and the Southwestern U.S. was observed blanketing most of New England and as far south as Kentucky. The smoke was observed gradually moving East into the Atlantic. -Westbrook THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
