THROUGH 1602Z August 4, 2019
SMOKE: Alaska/Canada/Northern Plains/Great Lakes... The complex fires across Alaska and Northwestern Canada are still burning but at a much slower rate. A large area of remnant smoke from these fires continued moving generally eastward and extended across Alaska, Canada, the Great Lakes, and the North Atlantic. Cloud cover across much of Alaska and portions of central Canada may obscure smoke plumes across these areas. Northwest US... A region of heavy density smoke was observed over portions of Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, and into North Dakota. Several small complex fires and a couple of large complex fires were observed in portions of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Montana. Moderate to heavy density smoke was observed close to the vicinity of the fire activities progressing northeastward. Rodriguez THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED. USERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO VIEW A GRAPHIC DEPICTION OF THESE AND OTHER PLUMES WHICH ARE LESS EXTENSIVE AND STILL ATTACHED TO THE SOURCE FIRE IN VARIOUS GRAPHIC FORMATS ON OUR WEB SITE: JPEG: http://www.ospo.noaa.gov/data/land/fire/currenthms.jpg GIS: ftp://satpsanone.nesdis.noaa.gov/FIRE/HMS/GIS/ KML: http://www.ospo.noaa.gov/data/land/fire/fire.kml (fire) http://www.ospo.noaa.gov/data/land/fire/smoke.kml (smoke) ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS REGARDING THIS PRODUCT SHOULD BE SENT TO: SSDFireTeam@noaa.gov
