DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1700Z August 16, 2019
SMOKE: Western and Central Canada and the northeastern Pacific... Light to moderate density remnant smoke from wildfires throughout Russia was noted across much of Canada and the United States. Smoke was generally moving south and east across North America. Northern Arizona/Southern Utah... Fire activity across northern Arizona was emitting moderate density smoke this morning. The smoke was moving off toward the west-northwest. Some remnant smoke from this activity was also noted across southern Utah and northern Arizona. Southeastern US... Numerous likely agricultural burns were noted from Alabama to Texas and Oklahoma. Smoke across Alabama was moving towards the southwest while smoke over Louisiana, eastern Oklahoma, and Arkansas was moving north and smoke plumes over western Texas and Oklahoma was moving north-northeast. Hosley THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
