DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1730Z August 26, 2019
SMOKE: Alaska/Gulf of Alaska... The Swan Lake fire in the Kenai Peninsula remained active releasing moderate but due to heavy cloud cover this morning the smoke could not be observed. Oregon... The Cow fire in central-eastern Oregon continue to release moderate-to-heavy density smoke towards the west-southwest extending across the Idaho state border. Idaho... The Cover Creek fire was seen releasing moderate-to-heavy density smoke towards the northwest. Wyoming... A wildfire in southern-central Wyoming was releasing moderate density smoke towards the southwest and was being funneled through a valley and into Nebraska. New Mexico... The Triple Nickle fire in western New Mexico remained active with smoke dispersing towards the southeast. -Westbrook THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
