DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0001z September 05, 2019
SMOKE: Oregon... The Cow fire located in East Central Oregon continues to burn and produce heavy density smoke in the vicinity of the fire and the heavy density smoke from this fire has moved towards northeast. Canyon 66 prescribed burn which is northwest of the Cow fire is also producing heavy density smoke that is moving towards the northeast as well. Northern Rockies/Idaho/Wyoming... Several small complex fires were observed across portions of Northern/Central Idaho just to the southwest of the Montana border. The smoke from these fires is heavy in the vicinity of the fire complex and moderate to light further from the fires. The smoke from these fires is moving towards northeast. A large complex fire in the Yellowstone National Park region in northwestern Wyoming was producing heavy density smoke. This fire is producing a long streak of light to moderate remnant smoke towards the southeast across the Central Plains, the Ohio River Valley, and eventually reaching the Mid-Atlantic region. Southeast US/Northwestern Louisiana... Fire complex activity was observed across Northwestern Louisiana. The smoke from a smaller complex fire observed is progressing towards Eastern Texas while the smoke from the larger complex fire is present over Northwestern Louisiana, Eastern Texas, and is progressing westward towards Central Texas this morning. Dust: Dust can be seen in the central Gulf of Mexico. Rodriguez THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
