DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1720Z September 15, 2019
SMOKE: Southern Oregon/Northern California/Montana/Idaho... The South Fork Creek for located in southwestern Oregon continues to produce thin to moderately smoke this morning. The smoke stretched towards the northwest and into Idaho. Remnant smoke was visible over the majority of Montana and northeastern Wyoming. Several fires in northern California are producing localized light density smoke. Central US... A large are of remnant light density smoke blankets the central US. Agricultural burns in the Mississippi Valley are producing localized plumes in the area. Alaska/Northwestern Canada... Wildfires in the Yukon and a couple in eastern Alaska were responsible for a layer of thin density smoke stretching from the Yukon westward over much of central and southern Alaska. The full extent of smoke is unknown due to cloud cover in the area. WB THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
