DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Lower Mississippi Valley... A large quantity of agricultural burning was observed across portions of eastern Texas, southeastern Oklahoma, southern and eastern Missouri, northwestern Mississippi, Arkansas, and Louisiana. Light density smoke was observed throughout most of the region progressing northward this evening. Southeastern U.S... Light density smoke was observed across portions of North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, and eastern Gulf of Mexico. Northwestern U.S. and Northern California... Wildfire activity was observed across northwestern U.S. and northern California. Light density smoke was seen throughout portions of northwestern U.S., northern California, and the Pacific coast. Western Canada/Central British Columbia... Several large complex fires were observed across portions of west central British Columbia. Light density smoke from these fires are present across most of the region. YL THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
