DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0200Z October 19, 2019
SMOKE: Middle and Lower Mississippi Valley... Numerous agricultural/seasonal type fires were detected along with a number of thin to locally moderately dense smoke plumes especially across southeastern Missouri and eastern Arkansas. The smoke generally spread to the west and northwest during the afternoon with some of the plumes merging to form larger patches of smoke. Sacramento Valley... Agricultural/seasonal type fires were noted in the Sacramento Valley region of north central California to the north of Sacramento. A number of these fires produced visible smoke plumes of thin to locally moderate density which fanned out in a northerly direction with some of the plumes merging into larger areas of smoke. Central Arizona... Fires producing visible thin to moderate density smoke were observed across central and east central Arizona including fires to the west and south of Flagstaff. Another fire located just south of Prescott produced thin to locally moderate density smoke which moved to the south reaching locations just west of Phoenix. JS THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
