DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0100Z November 3, 2019
SMOKE: Pacific Ocean just off California/Baja California Coast... Remnant smoke from the Maria Fire was observed drifting westward throughout the evening. The Maria fire was not detected in satellite imagery today. Sacramento Valley... Continued daily agricultural burning throughout the Sacramento Valley was producing light to moderate density smoke that moved southeast down the valley. Arizona... Although less in magnitude than yesterday, fire activity continues across the Mogollon Rim. The light to moderate density smoke emitted by these fires was mainly moving eastward. Pacific NW/SW Canada... Ongoing fire activity was present from BC and Alberta into Oregon. Associated smoke plumes, mainly observed throughout Oregon, were moving between northeastward and east-southeastward. Further fire activity and smoke plumes are likely present across the Pacific NW beneath broken cloud cover. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED. USERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO VIEW A GRAPHIC DEPICTION OF THESE AND OTHER PLUMES WHICH ARE LESS EXTENSIVE AND STILL ATTACHED TO THE SOURCE FIRE IN VARIOUS GRAPHIC FORMATS ON OUR WEB SITE: JPEG: http://www.ospo.noaa.gov/data/land/fire/currenthms.jpg GIS: ftp://satpsanone.nesdis.noaa.gov/FIRE/HMS/GIS/ KML: http://www.ospo.noaa.gov/data/land/fire/fire.kml (fire) http://www.ospo.noaa.gov/data/land/fire/smoke.kml (smoke) ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS REGARDING THIS PRODUCT SHOULD BE SENT TO: SSDFireTeam@noaa.gov
