DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Four Corners Region... Light to moderate remnant smoke was noted over the Four Corners region, extending from west to east along the Utah/Arizona and Colorado/New Mexico borders. The parent fire activity was across northern Arizona last night. The remnant smoke is moving off toward the east-northeast. In addition, two fires were noted across southern Utah that were producing light to moderate smoke. South Central and Southeastern U.S... Widespread agricultural burning was noted across the southern and southeastern CONUS, with most of the smoke production occurring in Georgia. Much of the smoke was light in nature with one or two producing slightly more thick smoke. The smoke was moving counter-clockwise around a surface high pressure center over the Appalachians. Alberta and British Columbia... Numerous fires were noted across much of British Columbia and Alberta this morning. Smoke light to moderate smoke was moving eastward from fires in northern Alberta and northwestward from a fire in central British Columbia. THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
