DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1800Z November 10, 2019

SMOKE:
Utah...
The large prescribed fires in Piute County, as well as a wildfire in
eastern Beaver County, continue to burn this morning producing plumes
of smoke traveling primarily eastward from their parent fires before
turning southward. The Piute County fires were producing heavy-density
smoke, while the fires to the west in Beaver County were mainly producing
thin smoke.

Lower Mississippi Valley...
Several agricultural fires across Louisiana and adjacent states began
emitting light-density smoke late in the morning, primarily moving north
and northeastward.

Unless otherwise indicated:
  • Areas of smoke are analyzed using GOES-EAST and GOES-WEST Visible satellite imagery.
  • Only a general description of areas of smoke or significant smoke plumes will be analyzed.
  • A quantitative assessment of the density/amount of particulate or the vertical distribution is not included.
  • Widespread cloudiness may prevent the detection of smoke even from significant fires.
