DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Arizona... Several fires in central Arizona were producing visible light-density smoke plumes moving primarily northeastward. Despite additional fire activity in southwestern Utah, additional smoke is not visible due to clouds obscuring the view. Southeastern U.S... Numerous agricultural fires across the southern U.S were producing visible plumes of mainly light-density smoke from Arkansas and Louisiana through Mississippi, Alabama and the panhandle of Florida. In addition, a few plumes of smoke were also visible associated with agricultural fires near Lake Okeechobee in central Florida. Several of the fires in Mississippi and Alabama included areas of moderate-density smoke. The plumes associated with the fires were moving mainly east and southeast. JL THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
