THROUGH 0000Z November 20, 2019
SMOKE: Southeastern U.S... Numerous agricultural fires across the southern U.S were producing plumes of mainly light-density smoke from Texas and Oklahoma through Georgia and the Florida panhandle. Several plumes, particularly associated with fires in southeastern Louisiana and southern Mississippi, also included moderate-density smoke. One fire near Tallahassee, Florida was producing thick-density smoke. Overall, the motion of the plumes was toward the southeast and east. Western U.S.... Agricultural fires in northern California were observed producing plumes of light-density smoke drifting southward. Wildfires in Arizona, which were seen producing smoke plumes this morning, have become obscured by thick cloud cover. Fires in Utah continue to be largely obscured by clouds as well. MC THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED. USERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO VIEW A GRAPHIC DEPICTION OF THESE AND OTHER PLUMES WHICH ARE LESS EXTENSIVE AND STILL ATTACHED TO THE SOURCE FIRE IN VARIOUS GRAPHIC FORMATS ON OUR WEB SITE: JPEG: http://www.ospo.noaa.gov/data/land/fire/currenthms.jpg GIS: ftp://satpsanone.nesdis.noaa.gov/FIRE/HMS/GIS/ KML: http://www.ospo.noaa.gov/data/land/fire/fire.kml (fire) http://www.ospo.noaa.gov/data/land/fire/smoke.kml (smoke) ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS REGARDING THIS PRODUCT SHOULD BE SENT TO: SSDFireTeam@noaa.gov
