DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1925Z December 5, 2019
SMOKE: Southeastern US... Widespread fire activity was observed throughout the southeastern United States with a large concentration of fires located in Georgia, south central Florida and Alabama. Fires stretched from eastern Texas, through southern Louisiana and up through the Carolinas. Primarily light density smoke was observed moving south and southeast throughout Georgia and Florida. Smoke in southern Louisiana was observed moving primarily northwest. Northern California... A fire with light to moderate density smoke moving north-northwest was visible in satellite imagery this morning prior to cloud cover enveloping the area and obscuring visibility. DUST: A small area of potential blowing dust was visible moving north-northeast across the northern portion of Texas this morning. Levine THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
