DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Bay of Campeche/Veracruz... A combination of smoke from gas/oil flaring in the Bay of Campeche and fire activity throughout the Mexican state of Veracruz are combining to create a sizable area of mainly light smoke across those areas. The smoke is generally moving west. Northern Central America and southern Mexico... A dozen or two smoke plumes were noted from northern Nicaragua into southern Mexico. Much of the smoke observed was moving south, although one or two in Guatemala were moving west. Elsewhere... A few very widely scattered smoke plumes were observed throughout the CONUS and Canada. Four or five were noted from northwestern Louisiana into southeastern Texas moving north-northwest with other smoke plumes noted in the Sacramento/San Joaquin Valleys, Oregon, Nebraska, Kansas, and Alberta. Hosley THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
