DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: South Central and Southeastern U.S... A tremendous amount of primarily seasonal type fire activity was detected across the South Central and Southeastern U.S. during the day with a substantial number of visible smoke plumes. The most numerous smoke plumes were seen extending from eastern Texas across Louisiana, southern Mississippi, central and southern Alabama, central and southern Georgia, southern South Carolina, and Florida. More widely scattered smoke plumes were seen over the eastern Carolinas and across Oklahoma, Arkansas, and southern Missouri. JS THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
